Darlene J. Smith

Darlene Joyce Smith, age 87 of Maple Grove, passed away peacefully on February 11, 2021. She was born in Minneapolis on May 26, 1933. Dar graduated from Edison High School in 1951, working part-time as a nurse’s aid at Fairview Hospital during high school. She was always good with numbers and had a long career in the accounting field.

Family was everything to Dar, nothing was more important. She had a special way to bring family and friends together, whether it was hosting costume theme parties or celebrating holidays with family. She shared her love of music, writing children stories and painting scenery with passion.

Dar was preceded in death by parents, Clifford and Florence Johnson; Brother Ronald; Son-in-law John Poppen and Daughter-in-law Michelle Smith.

Dar is survived by siblings Delores, Jerry, Denny, Bruce, Marvin, Linda, Laurice and Candace; children, Cindy, Tom (Kim), Tim, Ted (Marie) and Terry (Becky). Darlene loved her 12 Grandchildren Sean (Jordan), Nick, Eric (Amy), Lisa, Neal, Nicole, Samantha (Tyler), Adam, Hannah, Andrew (Lauren), Shane and Heather; great-grandchildren Peyton, Parker, Graham, Merrick, Everson, Adam Jr. and Leo..

Mass of Christian Burial 11 AM Tuesday February 16, 2021, with visitation 1 hour prior to mass at Mary Queen of Peace Catholic Church, St Martin campus, 21304 Church Ave., Rogers.
