George William Daeffler II
August 4, 1926 - November 25, 2023
Age 97, of Brooklyn Center, passed away on November 25, 2023.
George was born in Red Wing, Minnesota to George William
Daeffler I & Helen Pauline Daeffler (nee Reuter). After graduating from
school, George joined the Navy where he served during World War II for two
years before being honorably discharged. He started his career at Witts Market
in downtown Minneapolis, later going on to open and operate Sunflower Produce,
and finally retiring from the Red Owl grocery store. George married his wife,
June, on November 28, 1953. He was actively involved with the Boy Scouts, Post
#28 where he led trips and taught about the importance of Minnesota conservation.
George enjoyed bowling, casinos, horse racing, as well as cheering for the
Vikings and the Twins which he lovingly referred to as the “Twinkies”. Friends
and family will remember his house for always having teeny bottles of Coca Cola
and a drawer full of candy. His children fondly remember Sunday nights for Totino’s
pizza and Disney movies. Later in life, George was blessed with many
grandchildren whom he loved to spend time with. They will cherish memories of
their trips to Perkins and Target runs with their Papa. George leaves behind
many who will carry on his memory and dearly miss him.
