April 18, 1944 - May 24, 2021

Michael Martin Ophoven, passed away on May 24, 2021 after a hard fought 3-year battle with cancer.

Michael was born April 18, 1944 in St Cloud, MN to Leona Otto & Sylvester Ophoven. Michael grew up in St Cloud, graduating from St Cloud Tech High School. He served in combat in Vietnam and South Korea at the DMZ in 1966-1967.

After the war, he had three sons, Joseph, Kevin and Michael. A 30-year+ career at Champion Paper in Minneapolis. In his later years he enjoyed spending winters in Arizona, dancing, casinos, and spending time with friends.

Michael is survived by his 2 sons, Kevin (Lisa) and Michael; grandchildren, Darian, Adara, Keller, Kaelan; brothers, Allen (Lois), David; nephew, Jason; and friends, Phyllis Johnson, Audrey Estrada.

Michael is preceded in death by parents, Leona & Sylvester; son, Joseph; and brother, Rodney.

There will be a viewing with friends and family from noon- 4 PM and a Time of Sharing at 3 PM on Saturday, May 29, 2021,at Evans-Nordby, 6000 Brooklyn Blvd., Brooklyn Center.
